No such thing as buyer's remorse

Inspired by yesterday's post, I did a little stealthy purchasing from my favourite International pal Topshop. Always there to reassure me that good fashion is only a mouse-click away or alternatively, an $1800 return flight. Actually, one way flight thanks.

Pretty girls all in a row

If someone were to come up to me and ask me to describe my dream girl* in a dream outfit in a dream scenario I would have to walk away and think about it for a long, long time. Probably something like three days later, I would return with this set of photos from Alexa Chung's fall line for Madewell 2010.

So many clogs! So many wooden heels! So many socks! So much denim and neutrals!

I like to think of these girls as my alter ego. This is what I would want to dress like in an ideal world. The world isn't ideal though, so I hastily sift through all of my black clothing trying to muster up another outfit that doesn't look like the one before.

Alice in Chunderland

As I eagerly await the release of Tim Burton's take on Alice in Wonderland, I've found myself consumed by the book all over again. This spread featured in Vogue, and was photographed by the reputable Annie Liebovitz who can do no wrong. Just quietly, I think Natalia would have made for a much better Alice than what they have cast for the film.

Straying from normality

I wholeheartedly admit that nothing unnerves me more than trying to conjure up an outfit without the use of black as a safety precaution. Lately though, I've found myself attracted to the prettier things in life. Pastels are my new colour palette of choice, taking inspiration from the iconic Australian movie 'Picnic at Hanging Rock'. I find myself lost watching the movie because I'm so mesmerised by the wardrobe.

Oh Lexi you're so sexy

This picture is the only push that I needed to start wearing these shoes that I recently acquired from the op-shop. Pretty good match I'd say.

21st potential

After my best friend and I decided to have a 21st together, the only thing running through my head has been the stress of finding an amazing dress that I won't regret later. I tend to regret my outfit choices within ten minutes of arriving at the arranged destination, so naturally there's a lot of apprehension about the 21st dress. I want this Calvin Klein dress though, like nothing before.

Timeless

One key area that Country Road do particularly well are bags. A couple on my birthday wishlist:

Unexpected return

I never thought I'd see glitter back in my make-up case beyond 1999....

...but I think the Givenchy Spring 2010 runway models have proven me wrong.

Perhaps this take on the trend may be more suitable for most though:
